Dentures are a set of
artificial teeth set into plastic frameworks that rest directly on the
gums.
Partial dentures are
used for people with several teeth missing and whose teeth are not strong
enough to support a bridge. A complete denture is used for those who have
lost all of their upper or lower teeth. Without support from the denture,
facial muscles sag, making a person look older.
Three to five visits
are required to obtain gum impressions and fit the dentures properly. After
you receive the dentures, several more visits may be necessary to make
minor adjustments.
